No strangers to making hits, the duo have had incredible success on local radio and streaming charts following the release of their previous 2017 collaboration, ‘Private Show’.
Now they’re back with a highly-anticipated brand new collaboration, ‘Rainbows’, available now on all major digital music platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.
A fun and catchy Afrobeat-infused pop-dance delight celebrating love, ‘Rainbows’ is the final musical release of the year from the charts topping singer and has been tipped as the perfect summer sing-along for this holiday season.
“Sketchy and I have a great musical chemistry in studio,” Baron revealed. “We finished this track in under 3 hours. It was a whirlwind experience, but we are so thrilled with what we managed to cook up in the studio, and we hope that South Africa enjoys the track as we officially enter the summer season.”
Lyrically, ‘Rainbows’ song is about taking in and appreciating every perfect ounce of beauty that is in the person you love,” Daniel explained.
“I wrote the song at a time when I had just met the girl of my dreams. But, we lived in different cities and could only see each other every once in a while. So, I would find myself longing for her and I would write these love songs as a way to compartmentalise my feelings.”
Baron and the renowned Durban DJ and producer reunited in the studio last year when Baron took a trip to Durban to visit his fiancé who was living there at the time.
“I popped into Sketchy’s studio to hang out while I was down at the coast and when musos hang out, we generally make songs. This track basically kind of appeared out of nowhere in a very short time,” Baron said, adding: “And that’s when you know it’s something special.”
After being forced to put the song on hold due to Covid-19, ‘Rainbows’ couldn’t have come at a better when music fans are longing to escape from the uncertainty of life under coronavirus – and could do with some kind, uplifting words. You can download or stream it here.
Daniel Baron, the Chameleon of the South African music
A multi SAMA award-winning singwriter/producer with close to 20 radio chart hits and five number-one’s to his name, Baron is renowned for his smash hit, ‘Children Of The Sun’. The song broke records and debuted on the 5FM Top 30 chart at the number 1 position and later became a top selling South African dance song on iTunes for over 3 weeks in a row.
Fittingly referred to as the chameleon of the South African music industry, Baron is known for crossing over genres with an array of electro- infused pop-dance songs, inspiring rock anthems and emotional piano ballads.
Likewise, he has worked with a potpourri of musicians including rappers Proverb, Kwesta, DJ Euphonick, Afrikaans super- group Adam, and the 1970s famed Clout front-woman Cindy Alter to name but a few.
