New SASSA Postcard black cards now available at selected KZN retailers

Durban, KwaZulu-Natal – SASSA (South African Social Security Agency) grant recipients in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) now have more convenient options for collecting their Postbank black cards, with multiple retail locations across the province.

Available to all grant recipients, including Covid-19 SRD and Child Grant recipients and SASSA elderly clients, qualifying beneficiaries from five districts in KZN can replace their existing gold cards with the Postbank black card at various stores.

These retail outlets are spread across several municipalities, providing easier access for recipients to collect their cards without the need to visit Postbank branches or other designated locations.

Where to Collect Your Postbank Black Card in KZN

Residents of the five KZN districts – Ugu, iLembe, eThekwini Metropolitan, uMgungundlovu, and King Cetshwayo – can visit the following stores to collect their Postbank black cards.

Beneficiaries in the following district (listed below), must bring their Identity Documents to receive the card replacement.

With this expanded network of retail stores, the process of collecting the Postbank black card becomes more accessible, helping to ease the burden on beneficiaries who might have struggled with limited collection points. This initiative is part of SASSA’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery to social grant recipients across the country.

How to collect your SASSA postbank black card

To collect the new Postbank Black Card, SASSA grant recipients must visit one of the listed stores in their district with their Identity Document. The card is being issued as a replacement for the previous gold card, providing improved security and benefits for social grant recipients.

Other provinces including Gauteng and the Cape also have a wide list of approved retailers where SASSA grant beneficiaries can collect their card.

The reason why the new SASSA Postbank black cards were introduced

Social grant beneficiaries across South Africa are being urged to replace their existing gold cards with the newly introduced Postbank black cards by March  31, 2025..

This new initiative is aimed at enhancing convenience for beneficiaries, ensuring they can access their funds quickly and efficiently at trusted retail outlets in their local areas.

Meanwhile, payments for Covid-19 Relief of Distress (SRD) clients who were approved for the month of January 2025 will be processed from January 25 to 31.
