Not even grey skies or a drizzle of rain could dim the electric energy of Gqeberha on Sunday, as the coastal city proudly launched the first leg of the 2025 Absa Run Your City 10K (Gqeberha series) in unforgettable style.
From world-class athletes smashing national records to families soaking in the sea breeze on leisurely strolls, it was a day that celebrated community, endurance, and the pure joy of movement. Thousands gathered along the stunning beachfront, proving once again that this race is more than a competition—it’s a celebration of South Africa’s spirit, unity, and unstoppable stride.
The record breaker

Adriaan Wildschutt didn’t just show up—he made history. With a powerful stride and unshakable confidence, he shaved 7 seconds off the national record set just last year, proving why he’s one of South Africa’s finest.
Rain? What Rain?

Whether sprinting or strolling, participants embraced the elements. The beachside route may have been wet, but hearts were warm, and energy was electric.
Everyone’s race

One of the most beautiful aspects of the Absa Run Your City 10K is its inclusivity. People of all backgrounds, all fitness levels, and all walks of life ran side-by-side—united by purpose, pride, and motion.

Community vibes and celebration

The event didn’t end at the finish line. With live music, local talent, and vibrant crowds, this 10K became a festival of movement, music, and magic.
