NOWinSA voted Best Brand News Platform in South Africa – 2020 MEA Markets

⁣It's official: We are South Africa's Best Brand News Platform, as voted by a panel of experts from around the globe for the 2020 MEA Markets Business Awards season.

⁣Woo-hoo! We’ve just won the 2020 MEA Markets Business Awards as the 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 – as presented by the UK-based Middle East and Africa market research & publication company Mea Markets⁣.

This means a lot to us as a publication given that the awards are adjudicated by a global panel of experts, and it’s testament to our commitment to providing a reliable, world-class news platform to consumers, our readers and brands.

As many people would know, 2020 was a challenging year for the publishing industry globally, and South Africa was no exception as several news publications were forced to cease their operation.

Therefore this recognition is, furthermore, of uttermost importance as it demonstrates not only our resilience, but it comes at a critical time when we are dealing with both a devastating global pandemic, and the scourge of fake news.

“It’s a reminder that despite having caused real damage to journalism and the very fabric of our society at large, fake news or misinformation has also presented opportunities for new communication technologies,” NOWinSA editor, Tankiso Komane said.

She added: “To us as a 21 century news media, it’s an opportunity to place more emphasis on accuracy, evidence proof reporting and thorough research.”

Elated and proud: NOWinSA editor Tankiso Komane

About the 2020 MEA Markets Business Awards

Hosted by MEA Markets, on March 10 (2021),  the 2020 MEA Business Awards were handed over for the 5th successive year in an online presentation to deserving companies in the Middle East and African regions.

The MEAs are held annually to recognise the extraordinary talent behind one of the largest and most influential business regions in the world.

Winners are selected by a commission of experts after a rigorous internal vetting procedure and extensive research process driven by merit and centred around an in-depth evaluation of skills and services on offer.

Awardees must demonstrate expertise within their field, dedication to customer service and a commitment to promoting excellence. As such no public votes are permissible “as this enforces MEA Markets’ stance that victors are not determined by popularity of votes, but by their contributions to their industry,” the organisation shared on its website.
