DStv content selection garners 25 Golden Globes (2021) nominations

DStv has proved to be ahead of the game as the 78th Golden Globes officially released on Wednesday this year's main contenders, 25 of which have enjoyed successful seasons on the Sub-Saharan African broadcast satellite in 2020. This article not only captures award-winning international content that mesmerised South Africans in the past year, but a handful of shows local viewers can currently feast their eyes on - ahead of the February 28 awards ceremony.

The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards officially released this year’s main contenders, 25 of which have enjoyed successful seasons on DStv in 2020.

Mystery psychological thriller, ‘The Undoing ‘ is among a handful of internationally acclaimed shows that premiered on DStv in 2020. The series has stacked up the most nominations – a whopping four potential awards – which shouldn’t be a surprise given its all-star cast that includes Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant.

Another potential winner is ‘Music‘, which stars Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr and Maddie Ziegler. ‘Music‘ will be available as a cinema premiere on Dstv Box Office from February 15 this year.

Other nominated shows include Lovecraft County‘, centered around the 1950s Jim Crow America in which a black man searches for his missing father while having to survive terrifying monsters as well as racial terrors. The series is available on M-Net City (DStv 115) every Tuesday at 9.40pm and on Showmax.

Coming to DStv soon is ‘The Flight Attendant‘, one of this year’s standout shows which racked up two Golden Globe nominations and features a stellar cast which includes Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco. Other nominated shows coming to DStv also include: ‘Normal People‘, ‘Nomadland’ and ‘The Croods: A New Age’.

‘Black Monday’, which premiered on 1Magic (DStv 103) in July 2020, is up of a Golden Globe for Best actor (Don Cheadle) in a TV series, musical or comedy
