Fun and entertainment were the order of the day as the meticulously planned and executed Galaxy 947 Move fest turned the Prime View Adventure & Leisure in Olifantsfontein on its head with a series of awe-inspiring live performances over the weekend from the likes of J’Something with Micasa, Nasty C, Shekinah, Cassper Nyovest, Uncle Waffles, Sun-EL Musician, Matthew Mole, Jessy Clegg, Musa Keys, Will Linley, Zakes Bantwini and Blxckie.
Clearly, this is the one weekend that will be etched in the minds of multitudes of concert-going Joburgers for a long time to come as shown in the below tweet.
Music lovers came out in their numbers looking fly, amped for a good time and ready to flex with some of South Africa’s best-known DJs, artists and influencers.
After a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19 lockdowns and its far-reaching implications, Samsung and 947 teamed up to bring the festival back. A simple walk around the packed crowd and it was immediately evident that the festival was dearly missed and the break did nothing to put a damper on Joburgers’ appetite for a good party.
Everywhere you looked, people were dancing and singing along to their favourite tunes as belted-out by their beloved musicians. So electrifying were the performances that often times, I would have to make do with not having the awesome company of my good friend, The Citizen lifestyle editor Thami Kwazi as she’d occasionally rush to the dance floor to show off her best party moves whenever her favourites were on stage; in particular during Cassper Nyovest’ highly-charged performance (as shown in one of our tweets below). Of course, she also went gaga over Nasty C and Shekinah – my goodness, you should have seen her!
Innovation meets self-expression through music
The marriage of awesome, innovative technology and self-expression through music is no doubt what inspired the Samsung Galaxy 947 Move event. The prior pop-up experience in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Studio that formed part of the build-up to the festival, which was also presented to the festival goers during the two-day festival to show them how the Samsung Foldables make perfect companions during fun times like this, was largely attributed to the show’s success, in particular the good attendance.
Featuring the remarkable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, the pop-ups gave consumers a chance to see the smartphone’s impeccable features and all the amazing things they can do with it. Demonstrating firsthand why it’s called the ultimate tool of self-expression, the Galaxy Z Flip4 was the main attraction as it came to life and captured thousands of the happy faces at the festival (as seen below).
True to form, the Galaxy 947 Move fest was all about creating awesome consumer experiences. The unforgettable experiences which jolted the imagination of everyone in attendance included The Flipside, a house with an interior that was flipped at a 90-degree angle, where visitors were able to explore new angles to capture cool pictures and exposed the phone’s impressive range and flexibility.
It was perfectly complemented by the Flippin aMaze-ing zone, which had a carnival fun-themed maze with multiple interactive sections for the ultimate creativity. In an age where selfies and vlogs rule, there was also a make-up station to glam everyone up with quirky and funky looks before their moment of ultimate self-expression with online videos that were shot with the Galaxy Z Flip4.
Another one of the Z Flip4’s awe-inspiring features that came in handy for concert-goers is the FlexCam, which allowed them to go live on their social media platforms and capture every moment from multitude angles, and better still, they could do that hands-free . What an truly epic, meticulously executed live music concept this was!
