Prominent South African DJ and music producer Nkanyezi Kubheka (Nkanyezi, which translates to “star” in isiZulu) is a true definition of his name as he continues to rise to the occasion when it comes to making chart-topping music that is so good you can not afford to ignore. A multi-faceted entertainer who dabbles as a radio personality and brand influencer, when it comes to making genre defying music – that fuses together different styles of music – the Durban-born Joburg-based entertainer does it so effortlessly well it has become impossible to stick him with labels.
Now the multi-talented DJ has fluently stepped into the vibrant Afrobeats and R&B domain to once again showcase his fine ear for music that knows no boundaries with the release of his uplifting, eagerly-awaited single ‘Winner“.

‘Winner‘ features 21-year old Boitumelo Mafisa on the vocals, also known as Leo B, an upcoming producer, songwriter and vocalist from the Free State who has firmly found his fitting in African sound and music, who did a stellar job on the vocals with his sultry yet smooth voice.
“Winner is a hypnotic, soulful, spiritual and uplifting track, and Leo B didn’t hold back on the lyrics where he put real feeling which assist in delivering the message of the song,” explains Nkanyezi.
He further describes the song as an inspirational message that gives a glimmer of hope “that no matter what you are going though, you will succeed and achieve what you are destined for as a winner.”
“It inspires you to have faith, and fill you up with strength and courage,” he says, adding: “If you are going through a lot in life right now, this song was especially made for you.”
Some of Nkanyezi’s past accolades include being crowned ‘Budweiser King of the Decks’ in 2020, where he performed on the Ultra SA main stage alongside world renowned DJ Afrojack, Steve Aoki, DJ Snake and SA’s own DJ Black Coffee. Another was releasing the music video titled “Journey” which made it onto the MTV’s hottest playlist.
