SASSA payment dates for July 2025: What you need to know
PRETORIA – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially confirmed the July 2025 grant payment schedule. With over 18 million South Africans depending on these monthly lifelines, knowing your exact payment date is crucial for budgeting and survival — especially for the elderly, caregivers, and vulnerable households.
Payments are staggered across three dates to avoid long queues and delays, and the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is paid separately toward the end of the month.
July 2025 SASSA grant payment dates
- Older Persons Grant (including War Veterans & linked accounts): Wednesday, July 2
- Disability Grant (including Grant-in-Aid linked to disability): Thursday, July 3
- All other grants (Child Support, Foster Child, Care Dependency): Friday, July 4
- SRD Grant: Between July 25 and 30
(Check your SRD status online — funds take 2–3 days to reflect.)
SASSA urges beneficiaries not to visit pay points too early, as grant funds may not reflect until the designated day. “Always double-check your grant’s scheduled payment date to avoid delays or disappointment,” the agency advises.

What’s next for SASSA grants?
During the 2025 Budget Speech, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana confirmed that over R284.7 billion has been allocated to social grants in the 2025/26 financial year.
“The truth was that ours was one of the most comprehensive social safety nets among emerging economies. This reflected our commitment to addressing poverty and inequality, while keeping our spending sustainable,” Godongwana stated.
A major update is expected by September 2025, when the review of employment support systems will determine the future of the SRD grant — whether it remains a temporary measure or evolves into a more permanent basic income support system.
Apply online: Disability grant now easier than ever
In a major digital leap, SASSA recently launched its online Disability Grant system. From June 2025, eligible applicants can apply from home — reducing queues and easing access for those living with mobility issues.
