All 8 confirmed SASSA grants payment dates for June 2025

SASSA confirms June 2025 grant payout schedule—plus important updates on identity verification for flagged beneficiaries.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released its official payment schedule for June 2025, confirming payout dates for all eight major social grants.

Over 19 million beneficiaries are expected to receive their payments during the first week of the month, starting Tuesday, June 3.

Here’s the full breakdown of June 2025 payment dates:

  • Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 3 June 2025
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, 4 June 2025
  • Children’s Grant: Thursday, 5 June 2025
  • War Veterans Grant: Tuesday, 3 June 2025 (aligned with Older Persons Grant)
  • Grant-in-Aid: Wednesday, 4 June 2025 (alongside Disability Grant)
  • Foster Care Grant: Thursday, 5 June 2025
  • Care Dependency Grant: Thursday, 5 June 2025
  • Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant: Payment processing for the SRD grant typically takes place from the 25th to the end of each month. Exact dates are subject to confirmation.

SASSA reiterates that these dates apply strictly to permanent social grants. SRD grant beneficiaries should wait for SMS confirmations regarding their individual disbursement days.

Payment collection methods

Beneficiaries are reminded that grants can be collected via:

  • Retail outlets including Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Usave, and Checkers
  • Direct bank deposits
  • SASSA/Postbank cards

For the latest round of payments, no new card changes are required. Beneficiaries can continue using their existing SASSA Gold Cards or receive funds via their preferred bank.

Ongoing identity verification and fraud prevention

SASSA has confirmed that delays affecting a portion of May’s grant recipients were caused by an intensified identity verification process, targeting fraud and duplicate grant access.

“You must come and verify, and if you don’t come, you’ll never be able to access the money. And if you don’t come within a particular period of time, their grant will lapse permanently,”
Paseka Letsatsi, SASSA Spokesperson

Approximately 20,000 beneficiaries flagged for presenting alternative forms of ID (including refugee numbers or late registrations) must now present valid 13-digit SA IDs to continue receiving grants.

SASSA has coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) to cross-check records and will continue monthly reviews in partnership with the National Treasury.

Means-testing reviews also intensify

In addition to ID verification, SASSA is conducting bulk means-testing to flag grant recipients who may no longer qualify due to changed financial circumstances.

“A beneficiary may have applied for a grant at a specific period and qualified, but their material conditions could have improved over time and made them not eligible to receive a grant anymore.”
Paseka Letsatsi, SASSA Spokesperson
