Cape Town, South Africa — the Cape Town City football club on Thursday announced the appointment of former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral as the technical director.
The news come just two days after the club parted ways with Eric Tinkler on Tuesday (December 31).
This marks six years of the German-Turk’s return to the Betway Premiership, with the Sunday game – as Cape Town City hosts Kaizer Chiefs – being the first assignment of his dramatic return. He last coached in the Betway Premiership during a one-month stint with Maritzburg United — between December 2018 and late January 2019.
“Muhsin brings a wealth of local and international football experience to the club’s future projects, having most recently served as the Technical Advisor of the Turkish national team for the 4 years,” the club in a social media statement.
“Muhsin will step in as head coach until the end of the current season, joining first team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama,” it further said.
Muhsin’s former clubs include Kaizer Chiefs, Santos, Ajax Cape Town, Golden Arrows, Mpumalanga Black Aces Pirates and Maritzburg.
