The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that November 2025 social grant payments will begin on Tuesday, November 4, starting with the Older Persons Grant, followed by the Disability and Children’s Grants later in the week.
These payment dates are in line with the official 2025/26 SASSA payment schedule and the revised calendar published by the agency.

Postbank card users urged to migrate
While payments remain stable, the Department of Social Development has issued an urgent warning following confirmation that the SASSA-Postbank Master Service Agreement will end in December 2025.
Over 400,000 gold card holders are yet to migrate their payments to commercial banks — a delay that could result in non-payment next year.

Remaining 2025/26 payment schedule
Beneficiaries can view the official monthly calendar, including 2026 dates, on the SASSA website.
The next confirmed payment dates after November are:
- December 2, 2025
- January 6, 2026
- February 3, 2026
- March 3, 2026
How to check your grant status
Beneficiaries can verify payment details or track the status of their applications through the official SASSA website or contact the SASSA helpline at 0800 60 10 11 for updates and assistance.
Biometric checks, reviews & fraud prevention
As part of its digital transformation, SASSA continues implementing biometric verification and income review systems across the country.
This includes KwaZulu-Natal’s rollout of the Beneficiary Biometric Enrolment (BBE) system across 82 offices — a major stride toward improving security and preventing duplicate payments.
These ongoing efforts align with broader reforms to stop illegal deductions and modernise service delivery, as reported in NOWinSA’s exclusive coverage of SASSA’s anti-fraud initiatives.
Looking ahead
While no new increases are expected before March 2026, the government remains under pressure to expand support amid rising living costs. With the 2026/27 social welfare budget set to drop by R14 billion, concerns persist about the long-term sustainability of South Africa’s R266 billion social safety net.
Still, as Minister Nokuzola Sisisi Tolashe reaffirmed earlier this year, “Our grants are not just about relief; they’re about dignity, stability, and the hope of a better tomorrow.
