The battle for the Zulu throne just got more intense. As Shaka iLembe gears up for its highly anticipated Season 2 premiere on Sunday, June 15 at 20:00 CAT on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel161), the producers have revealed five dynamic new cast members joining the award-winning ensemble.
Among them is Luyanda Zuma, a former Miss SA finalist, and Sikhanyiso Sithole, whose last name rings bells in the entertainment industry—he’s the sibling of popular South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha, who also stars in and serves as executive producer (co-directs) on the drama series, portraying Queen Nandi—a pivotal figure in Shaka Zulu’s life.
They’ll be joined by rising stars Zamani Mbatha, Amanda Seome, and Anele Sphamandla Nene, each bringing new depth and drama to a show already praised for its historic gravitas and cinematic brilliance.

Theatre star Anele Sphamandla Nene, known for his one-man comedy show ‘The Hymns of a Sparrow‘ (which debuted at the National Arts Festival in 2020), brings layered vulnerability to a warrior whose past is riddled with personal sacrifice. Meanwhile, Sikhanyiso Sithole, making his TV debut, represents a bold new generation in the saga of Shaka’s rise.
Each actor steps into a complex political landscape, as alliances are tested and enemies rise within and beyond Zulu borders.
