LIV Golf’s global calendar continues to take shape — and the timing couldn’t have been better for South African fans.
On Tuesday, the league confirmed that HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong 2027 will return to Hong Kong Club from February 18-21, 2027. The announcement comes just weeks before South Africa host its own landmark event — the first-ever LIV Golf SA event.
The four-day showcase tees off March 19-22 at Steyn City, with early bird tickets available through the official LIV Golf portal.
For local fans, the Hong Kong news is more than an overseas update. It underscores LIV Golf’s rapid international expansion — and confirms South Africa’s growing role in that story.
Hong Kong 2027 officially confirmed
In a statement released Tuesday, March 3, LIV Golf described Hong Kong as a cornerstone of its international calendar and a gateway for the sport’s continued growth in Asia.
The league said announcing the 2027 dates well in advance reflects strong local backing, while thanking partners including HSBC, the Hong Kong SAR Government and Hong Kong Golf Club for supporting its long-term vision.
The 2027 edition will once again carry “M” Mark status — a designation from Hong Kong’s Major Sports Events Committee recognizing premier international sporting events.
HSBC’s continued title sponsorship signals commercial stability. Andrea de Vincentiis, HSBC Managing Director and Global Head of Brand Partnerships, said the partnership reflects the bank’s international network and long-standing, commitment to Hong Kong, spanning over two-decades — while helping grow the game across Asia.
“HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong showcases the city to a global audience while contributing to the growth of the game across Asia. We are proud to continue our support to an event that aligns with our ambitions internationally and within this great community,” De Vincentiis added.
Why this matters for Mzansi
The Hong Kong announcement lands at a crucial moment for South Africa.
Later this month (March 19-22), Johannesburg will host the league’s debut SA event — a key milestone in LIV’s broader expansion strategy that has reshaped golf’s traditional calendar.
That momentum recently strengthened with a landmark partnership between Luv Golf and Rolex, reinforcing the league’s global ambitions and boosting the profile of new host markets, including South Africa.
On the competitive front, Majesticks GC added further intrigue by signing Sam Horsfield ahead of the SA tournament, intensifying team storylines heading into the event.
A billion-dollar global machine
Since its debut in Hong Kong in 2024, the Fanling stop has become one of the Liv’s standout Asian venues.
Across its 14-event global schedule, the league says its tournaments have generated more than $1 billion in economic impact for host cities worldwide, supporting tourism and hospitality while reaching broadcast audiences exceeding 900 million.
Hong Kong Golf Club Captain Andy Kwok noted that the club, established in 1889, has a long tradition of staging world-class tournaments and is proud to continue hosting the league at one of Asia’s most historic venues.
South Africa’s moment
While Hong Kong looks ahead to 2027, South Africa’s spotlight is only days away.
The Johannesburg event is expected to draw international stars, premium hospitality and a Liv’s signature festival-style atmosphere — blending elite competition with entertainment beyond traditional tournament formats.
It adds to an already packed sporting and entertainment calendar, with J Cole also set to bring his The Fall OffvTpur to Johannesburg later later this year.
For now, though, the focus is clear.
Hong Kong has its 2027 dates.
South Africa is next.
