Showcasing how one of the world’s most love cognacs fits perfectly into the lifestyles of those with a discerning palette, the party was brought to life through a sought-after lineup of live music acts, including a surprise live performance by South Africa’s renowned DJ Fresh, who delighted guests with a live band to his set.

The venue screamed ‘orange’ elegance, all thanks to brightly dressed guests, who kept the ‘white with touch of orange’ theme to a tee. Some familiar faces from the local hip-hop scene spotted include rapper Da L.E.S, top female rapper Gigi Lamayne and Don Design, the late rapper AKA’s friend and DJ, who was with the slain lyricist on that fateful night of his fatal shooting on February 10. They were joined by a host of celebrities, influencers and lifestyle journalists across Joburg media and entertainment space.

“We decided to do the D’Ussé VSOP Day Party because we want consumers to experience the lighter side of the brand,” Sanele Gwala, Marketing Manager Middle East & Africa D’Ussé said, adding: “We want to change the perception of cognac as a serious drink that can only be enjoyed neat in a muted setting. Cognac blends beautifully in cocktails and can be enjoyed in a fun, day time setting too.”

Masterfully crafted in the cellars of the Chateau de Cognac, a home with a 200-year legacy of creating some of the world’s finest cognacs, D’usse VSOP is a unique blend of meticulously hand-selected eaux-de-vie, aged four years or more.

In case you didn’t know: Much of Jay-Z’s 10-figure fortune has been attributed to his D’Ussé business. According to a new Forbes report, the music legend is now worth a jaw-dropping $2.5 billion after selling his majority stake in D’Usse to Bacardi.

To those unfamiliar with D’Ussé, one of the most interesting aspects about this top selling cognac is its current shareholder, global rap superstar Jay-Z, most notably how it has helped boost, in recent years, his wealth past the billion dollar mark.

The distinctively smooth VSOP is renowned for its woody aromas that are backed by touches of cinnamon and floral notes. It’s perfect for those looking for a lighter flavor to put in a cocktail, go for the VSOP. For matured cognac lovers that enjoys their brandy neat, the XO will be a better choice.
