Confirmed August 2025 SASSA payment dates – all 8 grants

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has now confirmed August 2025 payment dates for all eight grants—including a new fourth payout date for flagged reviews. Here’s what to expect, how much you’ll get, and what to do if your payment is delayed.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is the government body responsible for distributing monthly social grants to millions of vulnerable citizens—including the elderly, disabled, caregivers, and unemployed.

Issued at the start of each month, these payments are a vital safety net for nearly half of South Africa’s population; approximately 47% of the population (over 28 million) relies on social grants provided by SASSA. The majority of these grants are for child support, older persons, and the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant at 9 million.

Amid increasing digital reviews, tighter eligibility rules, and public concerns about delays, SASSA has now confirmed the full grant payment schedule for August 2025, including a newly added fourth payment date for beneficiaries under review.

  • Older Persons Grant (under review)
  • Disability Grant (under review)
  • Other categories under review who missed the first 3 payment days

“Clients under review will only be paid on the fourth day. This ensures they receive their grant timeously after completing the review. You’re still getting your grant in the month it is due … it’s just a few days later,” said CEO Themba Matlou.
