SASSA July 2025 payment updated — with possible Child Grant date change

SASSA has released the July 2025 grant payment dates — but there's uncertainty around the Child Support Grant, which may be moved to a later date. Here’s what you need to know and how to prepare.

SASSA July 2025 dayment dates updated

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released the July 2025 social grant payment dates — but uncertainty looms over the Child Support Grant, which may be paid later than originally anticipated.

While not officially confirmed by SASSA, July 7 has been suggested as a revised date, as noted in The Citizen report, sparking questions among millions of caregivers who rely on the early-month payout.

If the possible date change is implemented, those who collect their Child Support Grant too early could find their funds not yet available. SASSA has previously cautioned recipients:

“Always double-check your grant’s scheduled payment date to avoid delays or disappointment.”

Updated SASSA grant payment dates – July 2025

  • Older Persons Grant (including War Veterans & linked accounts): Wednesday, July 2
  • Disability Grant (including Grant-in-Aid linked to disability): Thursday, July 3
  • All other grants (Child Support Grant, Foster Child, Care Dependency): Originally set for Friday, July 4, but may now be paid on Monday, July 7 (pending final confirmation)
  • Social Relief of Distress (SRD): Between July 25 and 30
(Applicants must check their SRD status online here; funds take 2–3 days to reflect.)

What this means for the Child Support Grant

The possible shift of the Child Support Grant to July 7 has not been confirmed by SASSA’s national channels but is being circulated by local community networks. If true, this could affect over 13 million children and their caregivers.

Beneficiaries are advised to wait for official confirmation, or keep checking their status regularly to see if their payment date has been confirmed.”
