The making of Carli J Myers’ Just Doing Me

Myers wrote ‘Just Doing Me’ while in Toronto for the annual ‘Canadian Music Week’ conference, where she represented South Africa. While there she worked with a number of exceptional musicians and songwriters, including Maia Davies and Bobby Morales.

“I was so taken by how music brings different people and cultures together,” she said. “I found my attention split between my hometown of Joburg and the inspiration right in front of me there – and that’s how we wrote ‘Just Doing Me.’”

The song, she added, captures each emotion she felt and “every moment I experienced, how you can be excited about life while still being grounded in your own reality.”
