SA travel sector leads vaccine charge with ‘jab for tourism’ drive

As the September high travel season looms, South Africa's travel and tourism sector is going full steam ahead with the #Jab4tourism drive, aimed at encouraging citizens to get vaccinated in numbers to help boost international travel.

To highlight the role vaccination plays in getting South Africa’s inbound travel restarted safely, the local tourism sector is getting behind the #Jab4Tourism campaign, led by various industry leaders and organisations.

The campaign, explains Natalia Rosa, managing director of Big Ambitions, is cognisant of the proportion of vaccinated people has in making international travel – into and outside of South Africa – possible again.

“While we support freedom of choice, we have to show our travellers that South Africa is Travel Ready and that we take their safety and that of our staff seriously,” Rosa adds.

To help kick-start the September peak travel season in South Africa, participants will flood social media with #jab4tourism pro-vaccine images and videos to not only remind citizens that vaccine works, but also show the leadership role the tourism sector can play “in getting South Africans vaccinated so that the travel and tourism industry can get back to business, safely”.
