Bafana Bafana cwill round off the FIFA window against Egypt on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Cairo International Stadium.
Kick-off is at 8pm South African time, or 9pm in Cairo.
The much-anticipated clash comes just a month after Pitso Mosimane’s appointment and the naming of his first 35-man Bafana Bafana squad for AFCON.
It also arrives shortly after a public salary row involving Hugo Broos, Mosimane’s predecessor.
How to watch the Egypt friendly
SABC Sport and SABC+ are the broadcast partners and are expected to show the match live in South Africa.
Fans can follow the Egypt friendly from 8pm on Sunday, with the match taking place at Cairo International Stadium.
Bafana Bafana team news
Mosimane has planned wholesale changes. He wants to give minutes to every player who missed the AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea.
Goalkeepers Sipho Chaine and Ricardo Goss should see action. So should Fawaaz Basadien, Khulumani Ndamani, Shandre Campbell, Puso Dithejane, Tashreeq Matthews and Cassius Mailula.
Khuliso Mudau, Lebo Maboe and Mbekezeli Mbokazi are out injured. Teboho Mokoena and Aubrey Modiba are doubtful.
Egypt are expected to be without Mohamed Salah.
Recent form before kick-off
Bafana beat Guinea 2-1 at Orlando Stadium, then thrashed Eritrea 5-0 in Cairo.
Mosimane has won both games since his re-appointment on September 1.
Egypt have also enjoyed a strong result, hammering South Sudan 5-0 away, with Omar Marmoush scoring twice. That result followed a 0-0 home draw with Angola.
Defender Ime Okon says the squad is eager for the test. “Egypt is one of the biggest teams in Africa,” he said in an interview with SAFA.
Previous meeting between the sides
Egypt won 1-0 in Agadir on December 26, 2025, in the AFCON group stage. Salah scored the winning penalty after a controversial handball decision against Mudau.
Mbokazi also featured in that encounter, but the defender will miss Sunday’s friendly through injury.
The latest meeting will therefore look different, with Mosimane expected to use the game to assess players who have had limited minutes during the FIFA window.
