SASSA December 2026 payment dates: When all 8 grants will be paid

SASSA has confirmed the official December 2026 payment dates for all 8 grants. Here is the full schedule to help beneficiaries plan for the festive season.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the official social grant payment dates for December 2026.

Beneficiaries can now plan ahead for the festive season.

These dates return to the regular monthly schedule. This follows the adjusted November payments, which ran smoothly alongside the National elections this week.

December 2026 payment schedule for all 8 grants

SASSA spreads the standard social grant payments across three days to reduce congestion at pay points and retail stores.

Children’s, Foster Child, Care Dependency & Grant-in-AidFriday, December 4, 2026

Older Persons, Disability and Care Dependency Grants remain at R2,400. The Child Support Grant is R580.

December 2026 SRD R370 grant payment window

While standard social grants are scheduled for the beginning of the month, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 grant follows a separate system.

For December 2026, the SRD payment processing window is expected to be moved earlier to roughly December 18 to 24, 2026.

While the norm is to process SRD payments in the last week of the month, often from the 25th, December often receives a different treatment to accommodate the festive season.

The exact payment date will be confirmed by SASSA closer to the time.

Critical SASSA warning for beneficiaries under review

SASSA has issued an urgent warning to beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

Failure to respond to review notices will result in the suspension of payments.

These ongoing grant review processes target undeclared income, outdated beneficiary records, and identity risks.

It forms part of a Treasury-mandated drive to protect the grant system and prevent fraud.

Beneficiaries can check their SASSA payment status by sending “Hi” on WhatsApp to 082 046 8553. The service also offers eLife Certification.

SASSA reminds recipients to update their details whenever their circumstances change. This includes their marital status, financial situation, address, and cellphone number.

Outdated contact details could cause people to miss critical notifications.

What to do if your SASSA grant payment is delayed

Beneficiaries who experience delays or difficulties accessing their SASSA grant payments must visit their nearest SASSA office for assistance.

Looking ahead, the January 2027 payment cycle begins on January 5: Older persons are paid on January 5, disability grants on January 6, and children’s grants on January 7.

Beneficiaries should keep these dates in mind when planning their festive-season spending.
