It’s here: Apple card rollout kicks off with a how-to video series

The highly awaited Apple Card rollout kicks off with a whopping 10 how-to video tutorials to a select group of customers

THE APPLE CARD rollout, which precedes the official public launch first in the United States later this month comes just weeks after company CEO Tim Cook confirmed its readiness during Apple’s Q3 2019 earnings call. Showing users how to apply for the card, as well as ways of making purchases and payments with it, Apple published a series of 10 “how-to” YouTube videos (below) exclusively detailing the entire process.

Once the official rollout is made public, users can apply by simply opening the Wallet app on iOS 12.4 on their iPhone  or iPad. They can tap on the “+” menu, select “Apple Card,” and then enter the required information. Within a minute, users will receive a notification stating whether they have been approved or not. If and when accepted, users can activate their card  on their device and begin making purchases right away.

For in-store purchases, there’ll be two options available; Apple Pay and contactless. Users will then need to double tap the side button on their iPhone/iPad to validate the purchase. For online purchases, users need to tap the “Check out with Apple Pay,” press the side button twice, and validate the payment with Face ID.

As the tech company earlier explained the vision behind the card, the Apple Card is designed to help customers lead a healthier financial life, and that starts with a better understanding of their spending. Although advertised as a credit card “created by Apple, not a bank”, Apple has entered into a partnership with Goldman Sachs as an issuing bank and will use Mastercard’s payment network.

Apple Card incentives

Apple Card only charges interest rate charges, varying between 13.4% and 24.4%. The beauty about the card however is its generous rewards schemes, offering daily cash backs – between 1% and 3% – every time one shops for services like Apple Music subscription and iCloud storage plan.

The Apple Card will roll out to the entire United States later this month, while the rest, including South Africa will follow suit right after. For more info on what the Apple Card entails, go here.
