The November 4, 2026 Local Government Elections take place on Wednesday.
Voters must confirm their registration details and assigned voting stations. You cannot cast your ballot at any station. You must vote at the venue where you are registered.
With the final countdown officially underway following a weekend of intense electioneering rallies in Soweto and across the country, voters are locked in and finalising their election plans.
Whike all eyes remain glued to Gauteng’s fierce metropolitan battles, the national spotlight is pulling heavily toward explosive multi-party contests nationwide.
This includes Johannesburg’s high-stake mayoral race featuring the DA’s Helen Zille.
Crucial battlegrounds like eThekwini in KwaZulu-Natal, unpredictable council races across the Western Cape, and a symbolically charged showdown in Mangaung in the Free State will decide the national stage.
Before heading to the polls, you first must check and verify your exact assigned voting station.
Do not leave your democratic right to chance: confirm your venue today, secure your future tomorrow.
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) provides three official channels to help you locate your venue.
1. Use the official IEC voting station finder
The easiest way to locate your designated voting station is through the IEC’s online map.
The interactive tool allows voters to identify their assigned venue using their registration details.
Visit the official IEC voting station finder and enter the required information to view your voting station’s location on the map.
2. Check your voting station via SMS
Voters without internet access can use the IEC’s SMS service to confirm their registration details.
Send your South African identity number to 32810.
You will receive an SMS containing your registered voting district and voting station name. Standard network rates apply.
3. Use the IEC WhatsApp line
The IEC also provides a WhatsApp service to help voters check their registration status and assigned voting station.
Save 060 088 0000 to your contacts and send the word “Hi”. Follow the prompts to retrieve your registration details and station location.
Where to find the complete provincial voting station lists
Voters who want to consult the broader provincial registers can access the IEC’s downloadable PDF directories.
Voters can find the official voting station lists for all nine provinces in our provincial directory.
The directories provide a reference for designated voting venues across the country.
Prepare for election day by confirming your registration details and reviewing the official IEC guide on how to vote.
The 2026 polls follow the ANC’s historic loss of its parliamentary majority in 2024, adding to the political stakes of the upcoming local government elections.
