SASSA June 2026 payment week: Update on all 8 grant rollout dates

Older persons and war veterans receive their grants today (Tuesday) with child support grants following on June 3 and 4. SASSA shares tips for smooth collection.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has started paying June 2026 social grants, with older persons and war veterans receiving their money from today, June 2.

As outlined in our previous coverage of the SASSA June 2026 payment cycle, the agency administers more than 19 million permanent grants monthly across eight categories. This week covers all of them.

Full rollout dates for all 8 SASSA grants this week

SASSA confirmed the following payment schedule for June 2026:

  • June 2 (Tuesday): Older Persons Grants and War Veterans Grants
  • June 3 (Wednesday): Disability Grants
  • June 4 (Thursday): Child Support Grants, Care Dependency Grants, Foster Child Grants, Child Support Top-Up Grants, and Grant-in-Aid

The agency urges beneficiaries not to rush to collection points on the first day. Funds remain available in accounts until withdrawn, and waiting a day or two helps avoid long queues.

Understand the means test before you apply

A means test is a financial assessment SASSA uses to determine if an individual or household qualifies for a grant. The agency checks your income and assets against set thresholds.

If you are married, SASSA considers both your income and your spouse’s income. If your income and assets fall below the limit, you may qualify. If they exceed the limit, your application will not be approved.

The means test applies to all grants except the Foster Child Grant.

For June 2026, the monthly income limit for a single older person is R9,350, with an annual asset limit of R1,584,000. The maximum Older Persons Grant pays R2,400 monthly, rising to R2,420 for those over 75.

Tips for smooth payment this week

SASSA asks beneficiaries to ensure their bank details are correct and active. If you have not received payment within two to three business days of your expected date, call the toll-free helpline on 0800 60 10 11 or visit your nearest SASSA office.

Avoid long queues by collecting after the official payment date – your funds will still be available.

SASSA also reminded beneficiaries that e-life certification helps verify that grant recipients remain alive and eligible. The system now runs automated checks through several administrative processes.

SASSA welcomes new Western Cape regional manager

Separately, the agency continues onboarding its newly appointed Western Cape Regional Executive Manager, Ms Lungelwa Sigasana Makaula. The induction programme includes presentations on SASSA’s Branch Strategy, Annual Performance Plan and operational plans.

Executives from various business units are presenting their areas of operation, highlighting key achievements and strategic priorities.
