The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has not yet confirmed its November 2026 grant payment dates after the scheduled payment cycle clashed with the local government elections.
For beneficiaries waiting for their October grants, however, there is no change.
Older Persons Grants will be paid on Friday, October 2, followed by Disability Grants on Monday, October 5 and Children’s Grants on Tuesday, October 6.
Beneficiaries can check the October SASSA payment dates for the full schedule.
SASSA is reviewing the November arrangements and says new dates will be announced after consultations with relevant stakeholders.
Why November SASSA grant dates are under review
The original November payment schedule has Older Persons Grants due on November 3, followed by Disability Grants on November 4 and Children’s Grants on November 5.
The problem is that November 4 is Election Day. President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared the day a nationwide public holiday to allow South Africans to vote in the local government elections.
That means the scheduled Disability Grant payment falls on a public holiday, prompting SASSA to review the November schedule.
Revised November grant dates remain unconfirmed.
What SASSA has said about November payments
SASSA has reassured beneficiaries that the review will not affect their entitlement to social grants.
“Do not panic though, all eligible beneficiaries will receive their grants.”
The agency said it is consulting relevant stakeholders before announcing the new arrangements.
SASSA also reaffirmed its commitment to paying the right social grant to the right person at the right time.
Beneficiaries do not need to withdraw their money on payday. Once paid, grant funds remain available in their accounts until they are needed.
Gold Card holders must act now
The SASSA Gold Card is no longer active, meaning beneficiaries can no longer use it to access or withdraw their grant payments.
Parents and guardians who still rely on the Gold Card must swap it for a Postbank Black Card to avoid disruptions to their grant payments.
The replacement card is free and is available at selected Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and SPAR stores.
Beneficiaries should bring a valid South African ID book or temporary ID document. No forms are required.
To find an active replacement point, dial 120355# or contact the Postbank Call Centre on 0800 5354 55.
Beneficiaries can follow the Gold Card replacement steps before visiting a replacement point.
SASSA has also discouraged unnecessary visits to its offices for payment enquiries relating to Gold Cards or Postbank Black Cards.
Beneficiaries using either card should instead visit a nearby Postbank site or contact the call centre for payment-related assistance.
SASSA grant reviews and contacts
Beneficiaries whose grants are under review should check the required grant review documents before making an application or visiting an office.
The required SASSA grant review documents can help beneficiaries prepare before starting the process.
Those who need to make an enquiry in person can also find SASSA regional office contacts on the agency’s website.
Visit the SASSA regional office contacts page for office and contact details.
NOWinSA will update this article once SASSA confirms the revised November 2026 grant payment dates.
