Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, a leading global cruise company which operates the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, announced Tuesday (January 19) an extension of its previously announced suspension of global cruise voyages as the company continues to work through its return to service plan.
The move comes as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated the sailing plans for 2021, which recommend avoiding cruise trips as the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage on.
The company, meanwhile, said the it will continue to work hard to ensure it meets CDC’s recently issued Framework for Conditional Sailing Order, which contains a list of rigorous requirements needed for cruise lines to continue operating again.
In a statement sent to NOWinSA by the South African PR agency, Big Ambitions, the suspension now includes all voyages embarking through April 30, 2021.
The company, the statement further reads, will continue to work in tandem with global government and public health authorities and its Healthy Sail Panel expert advisors to take all necessary measures to protect its guests, crew and the communities visited.
Prospective cruise-goers who are currently booked on cancelled voyages are asked to contact their travel advisor or the cruise line for more information.
