How to claim PowerBall and Daily Lotto winnings within 365 days

Players have 365 days from the draw date to claim their prizes under the National Lottery’s Participants Code of Practice.
After that, the ticket expires and the winnings are permanently forfeited, as our unclaimed Lotto money explainer explains.
Expired prize money goes to the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund, according to new operator Sizekhaya Holdings.
The fund supports community development, sport, arts, culture and charities.
Prizes above R500,000 typically face special tracing and review after six months. Operators may also try to reach winners by phone or banking alert.
Online and app winnings under R250,000 are paid automatically into your account. Larger prizes require in-person validation at a regional office with your ID, banking details and ticket.
Sign the back of a paper ticket immediately to prove ownership. Prizes above R50,000 qualify for free financial and trauma counselling, and winnings are tax-free.
