If all these claims are true, then this is a watch evey fitness lover should own

Touted as a must have for on-the-go fitness enthusiast, the eSim embedded Apple Watch with built-in cellular, thus allowing users to make international emergency calls even without an iPhone nearby, finally launches in South Africa as early as next week, Vodacom SA has confirmed.

Until now, only the GPS enabled Apple Watch Series 5 has been available locally since September 27. But now Apple Watch lovers can become proud new owners of the Cellular version with pre-orders starting on Friday, May 15, at Vodacom.co.za for the following week’s delivery (May 22). 

Apple Watch Series 5 cellular allows customers to stay connected, make calls and receive texts. They call also make international emergency calls even without a iPhone nearby. 

Equipped with the groundbreaking  watchOS 6 technology, users will be able to take charge of their health and fitness with new features like Cycle Tracking, the Noise app and Activity Trends.  

The big catch

You’ll need to sign up for a contract linked to an existing Vodacom plan, and its eSIM plan costs R25 a month.

Vodacom’s eSIM plan is called OneNumber and allows users to keep their number the same on devices using an eSIM. You’ll need to sign up for a contract linked to an existing Vodacom plan, and its eSIM plan costs R25 a month.

To help Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular) customers get started, Vodacom SA will also offer a special introductory cellular trial.
