Play Your Part Awards 2021: Innovator of the Year entries open

The hunt is on for Innovator of the Year Award as Brand South Africa officially opens entries for the 2021 Play Your Part Awards. For information on how to enter, please see details below.

Forming part of the inaugural 2021 Play Your Part Awards, Innovator of the Year Award is presented annually to recognise individuals and organisations that have used innovative means to positively impact the economy of South Africa,

The awards are the brain child of Brand South Africa, the official marketing agency of South Africa with a mandate to build the country’s brand reputation.

Innovations eligible for entry for the first-ever Innovator of the Year Awards must reflect significant achievements and provide quality examples of sustainable applications.

Likewise, the award will be presented to exceptional thinkers “who have helped the country improve its service to its citizens through innovative programmes, partnerships, policies, and strategies.

“Creativity and innovation are very important in trying to change perspectives and trying to change the social circumstances of people,” Play Your Part Awards judge, Firdoze Bulbulia said, adding: “We know that people who are innovative find solutions because they are creative, and creative thinking leads to lateral thinking. Lateral thinking is multi- layered, complex, and enjoyable. This kind of thinking increases the chance for creatives to find solutions for challenges in the community.” 

Members of the public are invited to nominate innovations or simply innovators with big ideas that has had a great impact in their immediate communities.
