‘The Daily Show With Trevor Noah’ won the 75th Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Series, marking the first win for the show in the category since the departure of former host Jon Stewart in 2015. The South African comedian left ‘The Daily Show‘ in 2022, with his final episode airing December 8 of that year.
While this marks Noah’s first Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series, he has another for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series – The Daily Show for his ‘Between The Scenes‘ segment in 2017. He’s also the first black entertainer to win the award.
Accepting the award before a fully packed Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, the comedian expressed his gratitude to the dedicated team who contributed to the show’s success. In particular, he paid homage to the visionary Jon Stewart, as well as African team that followed him to the show, including David Kibuuka, a Ugandan-born South African stand-up comedian, who worked as a supervising producer and writer on ‘The Daily Show With Trevor Noah‘.

“This story has been so long, so crazy, so wonderful,” said South Africa’s most decorated, hardest working comedian, capturing the essence of the commendable journey ‘The Daily Show‘ has embarked on since he took over.
“I want to start by thanking the crazy Africans who followed me to this country, David Kibuuka and Joseph Opio, David Meyer, my partner in crime, the writers and the team, Roy Wood Jr. from the very beginning, Jordan Klepper, whose flight got cancelled, showrunner Jen Flanz, this woman rode with me through the trenches,” Noah concluded.
The win was truly something special, with ‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah‘ thriving over equally formidable contenders in the category (Emmys’ Outstanding Talk Series), namely ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers‘, ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘ and ‘The Problem with Jon Stewart‘.
