Catch 75th Emmys live broadcast on M-Net, Tuesday

This Tuesday, January 16, South Africa viewers can catch a live broadcast of the 75th Emmy Awards on M-Net (DStv Channel 101).

After four months of delay that saw the 2023 event canceled due to the Hollywood writers’ strike action, M-Net will exclusively bring viewers all the glitz and glam with a live broadcast of the Emmys at 3am, followed by a second broadcast during prime time at 10pm on the same day. 

Happening in the US this Monday at Peacock Theater in downtown LA, the 2024 Primetime Emmys will be hosted by Anthony Anderson, the American actor and comedian who won acclaim for his role as Andre Johnson in the sitcom ‘Black-ish‘, and promises to be a star-studded night of celebration for industry greats.

Among the nominees are: 

  • Succession‘ (available for binge on DStv Catch Up, DStv Stream and Showmax) leads the pack with 27 nominations – 14 of which are acting nominations, as well as a nod for Outstanding Drama Series (an award it has previously twice).
  • The White Lotus has garnered 24 nominations and is expected to rival some of the 2024 top contenders for some of the top honors.
  • ‘The Last of Us‘ (available for binge on DStv Catch Up, DStv Stream and Showmax) is the first live-action video game adaptation to be nominated, with a total of 5 nominations. The show is vying for Best Series honour alongside ‘Andor‘, ‘Better Call Saul‘, ‘House of the Dragon‘, ‘The Crown‘, ‘The Last of Us‘, ‘The White Lotus‘, ‘Succession‘ and ‘Yellowjackets
  • House of the Dragon‘ (season 2 coming to M-Net later this year) for Outstanding Drama Series with a total of 8 nominations 
  • Survivor‘ (Season 45 coming to M-Net this February) for Outstanding Reality Competition 

Viewers can also look forward to their favourite international stars presenting awards on the evening, with the likes of Jason Bateman, Stephen Colbert, Dame Joan Collins, Christina Applegate, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jodie Foster, Jon Hamm and Pedro Pascal being among the stars announced to take the stage at the milestone 75th Emmy Awards.

Viewers will also be treated to cast reunions and tributes from esteemed TV shows among them ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘, ‘The Sopranos‘, ‘Saturday Night Live Weekend Update‘, ‘Ally McBeal‘ and ‘I Love Lucy‘. If you’re subscribed to M-Net, you can catch the awards live stream on DStv Stream.
