The Rand Show 2024 reveals bumper Easter Weekend thrills

South Africa's premier consumer lifestyle expo, The Rand Show 2024, is gearing up for a bumper Easter long weekend of thrilling activities starting March 28.

From the exciting unveiling of the Legendary Tyrannosaurus Trail at this year’s event giving families the chance to experience the ultimate Jurassic thrill, to high energy musical performs by the likes of South African Amapiano superstar Pabi Cooper, the Rand Show makes a triumphant return to the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, from March 28 to April 1, 2024.

Presented under the theme “Bringing families together and bringing together South Africans from all walks of life,” the 2024 edition promises an adventure of epic proportions.

To kick off the excitement, The Rand Show announced it’s bringing the Legendary Tyrannosaurus Trail for the first time at this year’s event, giving families the chance to experience the ultimate Jurassic thrill as part of the Dino Expo.

No ordinary exhibit, a giant 7m, scientifically accurate animatronic dinosaurs await all dino-lovers. From the iconic Tyrannosaurus rex to the mesmerising Dilophosaurus, Monolophosaurus, Gastonia, and Stegosaurus, patrons must prepare to encounter these magnificent creatures and more in all their glory.

But that’s not all – the Jurassic excitement doesn’t stop there! Attendees will get to dive headfirst into a world of reptilian revelry with dino-themed rides featuring cars from the movie Jurassic Park, electrifying train adventures, fossil excavations, and an array of stalls bursting with dino-tastic toys and clothing. And for the little explorers among us, there’s a playground that’ll unleash their inner paleontologist faster than a T-rex can roar.

Designed for families, below are some of the highlights for this year:

◾️ Meta Zone: The Rand Show is bringing Virtual Reality to the fore with the Meta Zone; a mixed-reality event that blends the physical and virtual worlds. Attendees can prepare to push the boundaries of imagination and technology.

◾️The Craft Experience: Whether you are a connoisseur of craft drinks or simply a lover of great music, The Craft Experience at the Rand Show is an event not to be missed. Here, patrons can enjoy locally crafted drinks from a wide array of distilleries, breweries, and wine farms around South Africa. Some of SA’s best local talent will accompany will be there, performing original and cover songs of your favourite hits.

◾️The Adrenaline Zone is bound to get your heart pumping with the action with the thrill of drifting, 4×4 adventures for high-end car enthusiasts of all types, and the much-sought-after helicopter rides. Other outdoor activities include go-karting, and old school carnival games and ride to keep you entertained for hour.

◾️Epic musical performances awards patrons, among them is the renowned South African songstress Louise Carver, who is set to grace the acoustic craft area with her soothing tunes on March 29 and 30 (Friday and Saturday).

Road to the Rand Show 2024: Spot the Bus and Taxi Competition

In the buildup to this year’s event, the Rand Show announced early this month two engaging competitions: the “Spot the Bus” competition, launching today, and the “Spot the Taxi” competition.

Both competitions will run until March 22, offering participants a chance to win tickets to The Rand Show 2024.

How to enter?

Keep your eyes peeled for the Rand Show bus or taxi as it roams the streets. Once you spot it, capture the moment, head over to Facebook and share your photo, making sure to include the location where you spotted the taxi. Remember to tag the Rand Show page to ensure your entry is valid.
