The Nigerian beauty queen, who recently made history as the first runner-up in the Miss Universe 2024 beauty pageant, once faced the sting of rejection from South Africa, a country she called home. Her journey culminated in a historic moment – Adetshina was crowned 1st runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Saturday (November 16, 2024), a feat never-before achieved by a Nigerian representative. “As someone who has persevered with grace I believe I have fought for not only myself but for Africa,” she said when contestants were asked on the Miss Universe stage ‘what message of inspiration they had for women aspiring to be contestants?’
