• Your 13-digit South African ID number
• Your matric exam number

NOTE: Provision for foreign nationals: The South African Constitution guarantees the right to basic education for all learners, including foreign nationals, regardless of their documentation status. So non-South African students who sat for exams can access their matric results using their valid passport number.

2. Send your SMS

Using your mobile phone, follow these steps:

• Open the SMS app on your phone.
• In the message field, type your ID number followed by your exam number
• Send the SMS to 35658 for public school results. If you wrote the IEB exams, send the SMS to 35135.

NOTE: Ensure you have sufficient airtime, as this service usually charges a small fee per SMS (approximately R3).

3. Wait for confirmation

After sending your SMS, you will receive a response confirming your request. This confirmation ensures that your details have been submitted successfully.
