In the latest programming shift amid the ongoing coronavirus in South Africa, ‘Idols SA‘ season 16 is forging ahead without live audience and yet despite this major setback, producers are working hard to ensure it looks and feels like the ‘Idol’ South African viewers have come to love.
This means viewers will still be able to enjoy the spectacular entertainment, tension and heartbreak from the comfort of their homes through Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161. It will also be streamed live on the Mzansi Magic website and through the DStv Now app.
The rest of the show’s main attributes still remain, including the amazing Idols SA bands, host Proverb and the beloved judging trio; Randall Abrahams, Unathi Nkayi and Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung.
“The show is about to reach its peak, a stage where viewers are starting to have their clear favourites,” Nomsa Philiso, the director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net said.
She added: “While we have had to take the difficult decision not to have audiences at the live shows due to the current environment and in trying to keep our fans and contestants safe, we are excited that our valued viewers can still enjoy this exciting production with us, from a distance, with lots to look forward to as we get closer and closer to the finale.
Hot on the heels of the November 2019 crowning of King William’s town native, Luyolo Yiba as Idols SA season 15 winner , ‘Idols SA‘ season 16 is on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) on Sundays, 5pm. For more information visit http://www.idolssa.tv.
