Forget about the clubs, house music and rap! Join the glamorous revival of dinner and dance – a magical combination of great food and the space to whirl around the floor to some easy dance music from the good olden days.

For starters, diners can select one of the following –  Patagonian calamari, grilled or fried with soya, garlic and ginger, Cream of tomato soup served with crème fraiche and basil pesto, crispy fried chicken livers with a peri-peri dipping sauce or thyme baked halloumi with red peppers and lemon.

The main course includes a selection of spicy line fish served with French fries; a 200g grilled sirloin steak or a marinated chickenb (half)  served with chips, and a vegetarian option – a toasted risotto, mixed mushrooms, parmesan cheese and truffle oi – among others. A dessert buffet – with malva pudding and custard, fruit salad, chocolate mousse, cheese cake as well as ice cream and a variety of condiments will come in handy to those with a sweet tooth.

Having recently completed a host of renovations that have added an exquisite amount of grandeur to an already glorious property, Granny Mouse Country House & Spa boasts among others things, a state-of-the-art gin bar atop the newly renovated Eaves deck. The venue reveal took place last week, where members of the media treated to a special evening with a wine and cooking tasting session, followed by a decadent dinner in the refurbished Bistro, with glittering evenings views through the glass conservatory, to the night stars above.

There are two winter-friendly restaurants with new hot meals on offer and specially prepared winter food pairing specials. However the Eaves Restaurant is a must for those looking for exhilarating fine dining experience with a perfect romantic setting. The dishes, which can be perfectly enjoyed besides a large open fireplace are designed to be combined with  their extensive wine list and craft beer. Some main dishes on offer include the ‘squid ink risotto’ (pan seared prawns, crumbed calamari tentacles, parsley & lemon pesto), springbok carpaccio (pistachio cream cheese, portabellini mushrooms with vodka infused strawberries) and of course the hearty roasted butternut with coconut and coriander Soup, a must on those chilly winter nights

At NOWinSA, we absolutely believe there’s no great restaurant without a stellar chef, and that proof to be the case with this match made it havean – between renowned German-born diner, Tony Kocke and the picturesque Fairmont Zimbali Resort.  The award-winning cook’s extensive international experience has allowed him to add a very special magic to the menus at the resort since he arrived in 2017.

Looking back over the two years since taking over the reign of a total of six kitchens, namely the Beach Café and Bar, Bite Pool Bar, Coral Tree Restaurant, OSA Restaurant, 31 Degrees and In-Room Dining, Kocke can handle just about any challenge; weather it’s catering for a small, intimate clientele/vistors or catering for large corporate functions and weddings that take place at the hotel.

In addition to having introduced the Chef’s Table monthly event which allows local foodies to sample to creativity of a culinary master, the Michelin starred chef has also facilitated the change from the Ayoba! Mexican restaurant to the Beach Café and Bar Restaurant and constantly reviews menus. In his current position as the executive chef,  Kocke – along with his team – is dedicated to providing guests with a variety of meal options made from quality ingredients, sustainably sourced where possible.

Although the establishment largely caters for large events and conference,  the resort’s dining facilities are also available to the public with a booking. Day visitors can enjoy a freshly-made sushi menu available as a takeaway (from 12h00 to 21h00) when visiting 31 Degrees or Dalchini.
