It’s official: The Bachelor South Africa season 2 is in the works

Good news to all the single ladies! M-Net has just confirmed that the second season of The Bachelor South Africa is in the works, and this could be your only chance at finding true love

South African TV news

Since the “unsavory” ending of the first season of The Bachelor South Africa in March, speculation has been rife as to whether a follow-up version of the world’s most popular dating franchise would return to M-Net. As it turns out, the pay-TV channel has managed to secure the series’ rights for another season, which came a bit unexpected given the ‘unpleasant’ turn of events from the last season – after bachelor Lee Thompson revealed in the finale that he and Gina, whom he had eventually picked are no longer together.

However, NOWinSA can confirm that South African viewers will join the show’s new leading man on his roller coaster search for love in next year’s month of love, February 2020. Viewers will be pleased to know that Jason Greer, who is set to follow in the footsteps of American TV presenter Chris Harrison (who has become the staple of reality TV show as the host of ABC’s The Bachelor USA since 2002) is reprising his role as the host. We have also been reliably told that production company, Rapid Blue, has officially started the nationwide search for the bevy of beauties who will be vying for the heart of the new bachelor. Entries have officially opened online and will close on August 20, 2019, at 11.59pm sharp.

“Even though our first season did not have the ‘happily-ever-after’ fairy-tale ending everyone wished for, we continue to believe in the power of love,” says Lani Lombard, M-Net’s head of publicity adding that the inaugural season did exceptionally well for the channel.

How to get on the Bachelor SA

Meanwhile, for those wondering who the next lucky lad looking for love is, Lombard has admitted that they are yet to pin down their man of the moment, and “we will still consider more options”. However, viewers will be informed before series commences who the new bachelor is.

Online applications

To be part of The Bachelor South Africa season 2, ladies have to be over 21 years old and single – either never married or divorced – and should meet the terms and conditions as stipulated by the channel. Entry forms for both the bachelor and the ladies are available on the M-Net website here, where they will also be required to submit two photographs of themselves.
