Coolest grocery stores to shop at (Durban, South Africa)

In this age of COVID-19, finding the best supermarkets with a broad-range of products at competitive prices can feel like a far-fetched dream for grocery shoppers. Well not anymore, and it's all thanks to the 'Sunday Times Gen Next Awards' for making this task a little easier!

Do you reside within the Umhlanga, Durban North or Springfield areas, and are wondering which best supermarkets to go shopping at? Check out the following stores as nominated under the “Coolest Grocery Store 2020” category at the Sunday Times Gen Next Awards.

The branded stores nominated include that of Woolworths Food, one of which can be found at Granada Square, while another favourite, Spar, can be located at Park Boulevard.

Springfield Retail Centre boasts another national brand favourite nominated, being the Food Lovers Market. Of course the list won’t be complete without two of the shoppers’ favourite; Checkers and Pick n Pay!

The 16th Sunday Times Gen Next survey recently announced the finalists across each of the 69 categories. Winners from each of the respective categories will be celebrated during an online event scheduled take place on Friday, August 21, 2020.

Considered the leading barometer of what South Africa’s youths and consumers in general find on-trend and inspirational, the annual awards delivers insights that are valued by brand management, advertising, and marketing professionals alike.

The survey conducted by HDI Youth Consultancy (now incorporated into Yellowwood) has previously been limited to South African youths between the ages of 8 and 23.

Now for the first time the awards also includes a sample population of Young Professionals, aged 25 to 30 years.

More than six thousand youth and young professionals across the country were polled during the 2020 survey period which concluded ahead of the national Covid-19 lockdown.
