The much revered South African fashion maestro has joined hands with Boschendal Wines and Avon South Africa to unveil the “Classica Icon” fashion collection, with an entirely digital agenda of content.

According to the statement sent to NOWinSA, the pre-recorded virtual fashion showcase will not only set the tone for more fashion show producers moving to digital as the need for remote interactions grows.

It also serves as a call-to-action for the local clothing and textile Industry and the fashion community at large “to help amplify and bring awareness to business sustainability in South Africa, and encourage adherence to the set ‘national lockdown’ regulations”.

As per President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call for a united effort to battle COVID-19, Tlale is mindful of the fact that staying at home is essential to ensuring the health and safety of the vulnerable South Africans, hence the decision to unveil the collection online.

“The David Tlale online fashion show is a game-changer that breaks new ground in the world of fashion. It enables all of us to leverage the ubiquity of technology and online platforms while ensuring that we maintain a semblance of normality, safeguard business continuity and offer hope about the future during this uncertain time,” said Mafahle Mareletse, MD of Avon Turkey, Middle East and Africa.

Furthermore, the internationally acclaimed designer believes the show will offer something different, while helping maintain a sense of hope and positivity amid the relentless barrage of unsettling COVID-19 news. “We hope that this collection will motivate everyone to have a positive outlook on life, be inspired and to know that ‘this too shall pass’,” he said.
