From SA to Ireland; there’s just no way to escape comic Sifiso Nene’s juicy Baby Mama Drama

One of South Africa’s sharpest and fastest rising stand-up comics Sifiso Nene is taking his popular 'Baby Mama Drama' show on the international comedy circuit for the very first time in May (2022) as his quirky and juicy take on parenting gains popularity globally following Dublin (Ireland) - May 7 - date addition to his current South African tour.

Having grown over the past decade to become one of the exciting names on the local comedy circles, all thanks to his sharply written stand-up comedy around the bizarre and amusingly juicy stories baby mamas gets up to, the KwaZulu-Natal born performer’s show, ‘Baby Mara Drama 2‘, was such a success at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg in late 2021 that he’s taking to the road again – both in South Africa next month, before crossing borders to Dublin, Ireland in early May.

Before heading to Ireland to perform at the Parnell Centre in Dublin on May 7, the KZN born comic is billed for two shows at Gold Reef City Casino, Joburg on March 4 and 5, followed  by the Pretoria State Theatre on March 25 and 26.

As the title suggests, Nene will be looking at the humorous side of an often sensitive subject as he delves into the hot topic of co-parenting for the second time.

“I never expected to write a second instalment since I believed I had gone through all the possible “baby mama” on my first show six years ago,” said Nene, adding: “However, the pandemic added more elements to my story and I decided to vent in the best way I know how, on stage.”

Nene’s life took a turn for the better in 2009 upon winning the first season of ‘So You Think You Are Funny‘, a nationwide talent search for up and coming comedians on SABC1. He then went on to prove that he is not a one-hit-wonder by winning the Comics Choice Awards in 2012 and 2013, in the Audience Choice category.

Fans of the witty entertainer are in for a treat as he touches on everything from taxi drivers to politics, and doesn’t shy away from his main topic.

‘’Whether you are someone who has baby mama drama, are dating someone who has baby mama drama, or are in fact the baby mama who has drama yourself, this show will have something for everyone,” added Nene.

Tickets for the South African leg of his comedy tour can be purchased via Computicket (www.computicket.com), or via Checkers and Shoprite retail stores, countrywide, for R160 to R200 each.
