Sol Phenduka’s star continues to ascend as he lands a chart-topping Showmax gig

South African comedian Sol Phenduka'a star power continues to ascend as he lands a Showmax hosting gig on the chart-topping, 'This Body Works For Me' ahead of the reality series much-awaited 'Reunion' premiere on Wednesday, March 8.

𝐒𝐎𝐋 𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐃𝐔𝐊𝐀 has slowly become a force to be reckoned with in Mzansi showbiz circles and it’s been a marvel to witness his ascent to certified stardom, largely as the driving force behind the huge success of the Podcast and Chill with MacG, as well as his much-talked about radio gig with Dineo Ranaka on Kaya FM on weekdays. ⁣

The announcement this week that he’ll be hosting the ‘Reunion‘ of the hit Showmax Original series, ‘This Body Works For Me‘, further solidifies his status as one of South Africa’s biggest entertainment commentors, all thanks to his quick wit and amusing personal anecdotes that has set him apart from his peers.

The ‘TBWFM Reunion‘ premieres on Showmax this Wednesday, March 8.

“I feel like the reunion needs to be hosted by someone who understands the women’s profession and at the same time enjoyed watching the show,” Sol said in a statement sent to NOWinSA. “There was a time in my life when I consumed adult entertainment content, so I get it.”

Since its November 2022 launch, ‘TBWFM‘ has topped the charts on both Twitter and Showmax, where it has stayed in the top 20 week as seven ladies (including SA famous porn-star Xoli Mfeka and musician-turned-exotic dancer Anele “Nelly” Mahlakatha) lay bare the details of what happens behind the scenes of South Africa’s thriving adult entertainment industry. Now things are about to get juicier as the ladies reunite to dish the dirt on one another, as well as past season’s antics.

With Showmax presenting the final episode in a reunion format after 19 drama-filled episodes, Sol hopes to get to the bottom of all the cat-fighting that occurred throughout the entire season.

“There’s a lot of tension; there’s a lot of hatred flying around: low vibrations as some of these ladies would call it, and unanswered questions from the public to the ladies,” Sol said, addin: “I am hoping to get to the bottom of some issues.”

On why Sol makes a perfect candidate for this ‘Reunion‘, Keneilwe Senyatsi, content executive producer for POP/Media 24, says as a production company, they’ve always wanted the type of host that brings the most out of your cast. Likewise, Sol’s “charismatic and objective nature makes him the ideal host because he comes with the right humour, compassion, and appreciation for all the ladies and their storylines”.

She added: “We know that he’ll leave no stone unturned while unpacking their unconventional lives in the most authentic way.”
