Glitz, glam galore at New York-styled Cruz SA Fashion Week opening party

Here are some of our best looks from the high-spirited New York-styled Cruz SA Fashion Week Opening Party in Johannesburg.

Pulling back the curtain to welcome in style the weekend long South Africa Fashion Week, Cruz X SAFW Opening Party hosted Thursday night one of the country’s most prestigious fashion gatherings with the who’s who of the SA fashion and entertainment world in attendance.

True to form, guests were treated to an exclusive evening of glitz and glam at newly renovated Levelthree in Sandton, where they enjoyed decadent Cruz cocktails and high fashion – all inspired by New York City and set against the backdrop of Sandton skyline.

Red carpet host Chris Jaftha welcomed guests as they arrived, while award-winning local designer Paledi Segapo presented a New York inspired fashion installation to be remembered.

Inducing some serious 90s New York nostalgia: media personality Kim Jayde.

SA Fashion Week showcasing designer Artclub and Friends kitted out the promoters with super cool branded ankle socks and cute tote bags.

The star-studded, red carpet, by invite only affair was attended by some of South Africa’s beloved entertainers, among them actresses Nambita Ben Mazwi, Lunathi Mampofu and sisters Candice and Refilwe Modiselle.

Other esteemed guests included media personalities Lasizwe, Abigail Visagie, Kim Jayde, comedians Robot Boi and Primo. Some of the familiar reality tv stars spotted include the gorgeous Housewives of Durban’s Annie Mthembu, Maria Isabella Valaskatzis and Sorisha Naidoo and Nicole Capper.

SA fashion designers Scalo, Fundunzi’s Craig Jacobs, Ole Ledimo from House of Ole and Imprint’s Msukizi Mbane graced the red carpet while top SA artists Tamara Dey, Gigi La Mayne, KLA, Money Badoo and Limpopo’s own Makhadzi were also in attendance.

Handcrafted Cruz Vodka ‘New York’ cocktails served as the perfect complement to the New York inspired fashion installation and the superbly dressed A-listers.

Entertainment for the evening included SA’s finest DJ Maphorisa, Musa Keys, DJ Venom and DJ K Mat delivering the beats, while Simmy performed her sultry tunes to an electrifying audience.
