Top SA female rapper seals industry-first Cruz Vodka deal

Female rapper Moozlie is the latest in a string of super business-savvy South African artists to not only continue to cement her strong personal brand, but to literally take the phrase "popping bottles" to the bank as she seals an industry-first multi million rand deal as Cruz Vodka newest and first female brand ambassador.

Through its new brand partnership with Moozlie (born Nomuzi Mabena), which follows hot on the heels of successful deal with rapper AKA, Cruz Vodka continues its time-honored tradition of bringing the top selling spirit brand to the forefront of hip-hop, helping South African rappers take giant leaps in their journey towards becoming moguls in the process.

The relationship, which Moozlie describes as “like a full circle moment”, has been years in the making, with the TV presenter-cum musician starting off as its loyal friend, before becoming a staple on the brand’s star-studded SA Fashion Week party guest list.

“A seed planted over many years has finally blossomed,” the ecstatic Moozlie said, adding: “Cruz Vodka is one of the most forward-thinking brands I’ve ever worked with. From what the team have been able to achieve with AKA to all the exciting things we’ve got planned with Manhattan Blossom, I appreciate that this brand respects the influence and creative genius artists bring to the table. I have no doubt this will lead to more music, more good times, more milestones and more success for the whole team.”

In a rare deal that seeks to position SA female rappers as entertainment power houses in their own right – and one of its kind for the South African beverage community – the singer will earn her share in the vodka’s profit split per Cruz ‘Manhattan Blosson’ bottle sold throughout Africa.

“We’re honoured to have Moozlie leading the way both for our brand and for those who will follow the agenda. Celebrating a time of transition from one of the worst Winters we’ve seen – that has little to do with the weather – we look forward to a Spring that poses ample opportunity for positive momentum. May this partnership lead the way for a new season, a new rule, and a new partnership set to blossom,” stated Cruz Vodka’s brand manager, Kayla Hendricks.

Moozlie’s humble beginnings

The 28-year-old entertainer, whose success comes from cultivating a reputation as a sassy, confident and stylishily talented female Mcee – and then purposefully lending that to her business ventures – started out as a model in Benoni before moving up the ranks when she won the MTV Base VJ search in 2012.

Be it as a rapper, fashion designer, model, creative, or mogul, today Moozlie has established himself as one of the most bankable star not only within the South African hip hop industry, but other industries too.

About Cruz Manhattan Blossom

The new variant of the award winning New York brand, Cruz Manhattan Blossom is wrapped in a decadent design, and made from the original Cruz Vintage Black Vodka, infused with Juniper and Rose.

The premium New York dry craft vodka was developed as a first for South Africa and has done exceptionally well since launching in October 2019.

The mouth-watering taste of Juniper with hints of rose, coupled with spiced ruby grapefruit  and refreshing cucumber undertone offers a smooth, flavourful liquid perfect for mixing, to be enjoyed with a craft tonic, lemonade or even cranberry juice.
