Newcomer actor Tebogo Sefora is set for the big time with new sopie role on 'House of Zwide', which will see the Rustenburg star cements his status as an actor with a dynamic range.

Fresh from his role as the enigmatic Thapelo on Mzansi Magic football telenovela ‘Champions‘, rising star Tebogo Sefora is ready to cement his arrival on the South African acting scene with a newly-minted role on the fourth season of ‘House of Zwide‘.

Sefora is joining the acclaimed e.tv daily drama as Thato, bringing fresh energy to the Royalty Soapie Award-winning TV drama series alongside renowned actors Winnie Ntshaba (who stars as the dodgy wife to the retired fashion mogul Funani Zwide, played by Vusi Kunene), Mduduzi Mabaso (Faith’s ex-convict brother Msizi) and the series breakout stars Nefisa Mkhabela (Ona) and Gaisang Noge (Mampho).

The series, which captures the glitz and glamour of the South African fashion world, is currently rated e.tv’s most-watched show with close to five million viewers, according to June 2024 figures by the Broadcast Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA).

At 32, Sefora is not just another pretty face relying sorely on his striking looks which have become a talking point among television viewers on social media. Those who’ve seen him strut his stuff on ‘Champions‘ would agree that his remarkable acting talent truly sets him apart.

“Getting a role in such a major production alongside some of South Africa’s biggest stars is truly an answered prayer – it’s actually more than I ever dreamed of,” Sefora said, adding: “Initially, it was quite challenging to share the platform with veterans I grew up watching; it felt like a sink-or-swim situation. But I’ve learned how to stay afloat. I’m grateful for the opportunity and hopeful for what the future holds in this industry.”

Hailing from the North West township of Tlhabane, Rustenburg, Sefora’s journey has been anything but conventional. After the tragic loss of his father at the age of 12, he faced a series of challenges, moving from one family member’s home to another. These hardships, coupled with his turbulent teenage years, fueled his determination to achieve his goals despite the glaring setbacks.

Though he started out as bank teller, it was his deep passion for acting that saw him dedicate his time to refining his craft as an actor. His persistence has finally paid off as he now steps into the spotlight with a major role that promises to showcase his dynamic acting range.

To witness Sefora’s rise to soapie stardom as he brings Ona’s love interest Thato to life, tune in to House of Zwide on e.tv at 7pm on weekdays. The series is also available to stream on Apple TV and Prime Video.
