4 urgent actions to clear delays to your May SASSA SRD grant payment

SASSA has flagged thousands of grants, including SRD grants, for verification delays in May 2025. If you happen not to receive your R370 later this month (May 26 to 31), take these urgent steps now to avoid your grant being suspended.

May SASSA Delays: What’s Going On?

If your May 2025 SASSA grant get blocked — especially the R370 SRD, Old Age, or Child Support grant — you’re not alone.

SASSA has announced delays for some beneficiaries due to a new verification process launched this month.

“This verification aims at updating misinterpreted information submitted to SASSA,”
the agency shared this week.


Who’s Affected?

  • SRD R370 Grant recipients
  • Older Persons Grant (60+)
  • Child Support, Foster Care, and Care Dependency recipients

If your ID number wasn’t properly verified, or your income status has changed, your grant could be blocked or delayed.

4 Urgent Actions to Unblock Your Grant Payment

1. Visit Your Nearest SASSA Office
Bring your original ID to complete the verification process. This step is required if your ID details are outdated or misread.

2. Fix Your ID Verification
If your application didn’t use your full 13-digit SA ID or contains errors, follow these ID update steps.

3. Declare Any Changed Income or Circumstances
Have you started earning an income recently or changed addresses? This may affect your grant eligibility. Here’s why and what to do.

4. Check Your SRD Grant Status Online
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za to view your payment status or submit a reconsideration request if your SRD R370 grant was declined.
