Kwaito pioneer Oskido will receive two of the South African Music Awards (SAMA32) highest honours, adding another major recognition to a career that has helped shape the South African music scene for more than three decades.
The DJ, producer and music entrepreneur will receive the SAMA32 Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony on Saturday August 15, 2026, at the Sun City Superbowl. The recognition follows his Presidential Order of Ikhamanga honour in May.
The 32nd edition of the South African Music Awards, sponsored by the Motsepe Foundation, will bring artists, industry figures and music fans to the North West.
Oskido receives SAMA32 Lifetime Achievement Award
Oskido previously received the RiSA Chairperson’s Award at SAMA30 for his contribution as a music executive, producer, entrepreneur and cultural pioneer.
SAMA32 will now recognise his broader career with the Lifetime Achievement Award, adding his name to the list of South African music figures recognised for their lasting contribution to the industry.
SAMA spokesperson Unati Gwija said the award recognises careers that have influenced generations of artists and creatives.
“The Lifetime Achievement Award is more than a recognition of longevity; it is a celebration of those whose artistry has shaped the soundtrack of our nation, inspired generations and paved the way for the next wave of South African talent.
“It reminds us of the importance of honouring our cultural architects while they are still with us to witness the impact of their life’s work.”
Oskido’s influence began with kwaito and expanded through his work as a producer, executive and mentor to emerging artists.
His SAMA32 recognition follows the latest developments in an awards platform that continues to track the growth of local music. SAMA31 winners and highlights captured another chapter in that evolution.
SAMA32 connects South African music with North West tourism
Organisers have positioned SAMA32 as both an awards ceremony and a cultural event supporting tourism and local economic activity.
The event’s partners include the Motsepe Foundation, North West provincial departments, SA Tourism, SABC, RiSA, SAMPRA, SAMRO and CAPASSO.
Gwija said the awards create opportunities beyond the music industry.
“By bringing together iconic artists, emerging talent, industry leaders and thousands of music lovers from across the country and beyond, the festival stimulates tourism, boosts local economic activity and creates meaningful opportunities for small businesses, creatives, entrepreneurs and the hospitality sector.”
The ceremony will take place at the Sun City Superbowl, with the North West using the event to showcase its tourism and hospitality offering.

Gwija said the event also gives visitors an opportunity to explore the province beyond the awards.
