MG has revealed two electric concept cars – the MG GO! and MG Cyber Concept – at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, giving motorists an early look at the brand’s next generation of electric vehicles.
The concepts preview future production models and show how MG plans to combine British design with AI and advanced driver technology.
As interest in EVs grows locally, the unveiling adds another perspective to the future of electric cars and how manufacturers are reshaping the market.
MG GO! targets the next generation of compact electric cars
The MG GO! previews a production-ready B-segment electric hatchback expected to launch in 2027.
Designed at MG’s London Design Centre, the concept draws inspiration from classics such as the MGB GT without simply recreating the past.
Short overhangs, flared wheel arches and distinctive circular lighting give it a modern identity, while its five-door layout keeps it practical for everyday driving.
MG says the production model will target buyers looking for an affordable electric vehicle with distinctive styling rather than another conventional city hatchback.
That would place it alongside rivals such as the Renault 5 E-Tech, MINI Cooper Electric and Citroën ë-C3 in the growing compact EV segment.
MG Cyber Concept pushes into premium electric SUVs

The MG Cyber Concept points to a different part of the market.
It previews a future D-segment electric performance SUV inspired by the record-breaking MG EX181.
Instead of traditional upright SUV styling, the concept adopts a low, aerodynamic silhouette with coupé-like proportions, sculpted air channels and a prominent rear diffuser.
Unlike the near-production GO!, the Cyber Concept remains an early design study. MG has yet to reveal powertrain details, battery range or a production timeline.
The concept nevertheless signals the brand’s intention to extend the sporting identity established by the Cyberster into larger electric vehicles.
MG showcases AI and intelligent driving technology
Alongside the concept cars, MG used its Goodwood display to demonstrate its latest advances in AI, intelligent driving and connected vehicle technology.
The Future Motion Show featured robotic demonstrations showcasing sensor systems, cameras, LiDAR and autonomous driving capabilities.
The presentation reflects a wider automotive trend as manufacturers increasingly combine software, connectivity and artificial intelligence with electric mobility.
Similar developments have reshaped discussions around mobility and digital technology, a feature explored in NOWinSA’s feature on advancing public understanding of AI.
For South African EV buyers, the latest concepts arrive as interest in electric vehicles continues to grow. Improving infrastructure, changing buyer behaviour and stronger competition continue to shape the market, according to AutoTrader CEO analysis of South Africa’s evolving EV market.
MG unveiled both concepts during the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, an annual showcase where global manufacturers debut future performance cars, electric vehicles and new automotive technology.
