Samsung Galaxy S20 FE vs Note 20. Which is better?

Tech experts believe the S20 FE’s powerful ecosystem equals, and in some cases even outperforms the Galaxy Note 20 in key areas such as display quality.

Comparably, the Galaxy S20 FE’s display refreshes two times faster at 120Hz, while the Galaxy Note 20 comes with a jittery 60Hz, resulting in lesser smoother animations in mobile games.

This, along with its stunningly bright 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel, puts the Galaxy S20 FE in a class of its own.

While both phones have a flat HDR10+ compliant display with a resolution of 2400 by 1080, the S20 FE arguably still remains a better option prize-wise. 

Galaxy S20 FE, offers a lot more than expected 

The Galaxy Note 20 has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in most markets – or 128GB in the US. Similarly, the Galaxy S20 FE  is sold with both a 6GB and 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and can be expanded to 256GB. 

Battery wise, the Galaxy Note 20 packs a 4,300mAh, while the FE uses a 4,500mAh unit. While they are both equipped with a 25W fast charging power, S20 FE customers are better off as it is sold with a 15W charger, while the latter – 25W charger – is sold separately.

While both spots a 12MP wide and ultra-wide sensors, the Galaxy Note 20 has a 64MP telephoto lens vs 8MP for the S20 FE. 

However, the S20 FE takes the cake in the selfie department – thanks to a higher-resolution 32MP front-facing shooter vs 10PM. 

Pricing and availability 

Those who order now from Samsung’s online store will receive a complimentary UV smartphone steriliser with wireless charging worth R999. It also the comes with a 24 months accidental damage repair at R499 (once-off) – valued at R1999.

A follow up of the Galaxy Note 10, the  device is available in four colours in South Africa; Cloud Lavender, Cloud Navy, Cloud Mint and Cloud Red at a recommended retail price of R17, 995, while the Galaxy Note 20 retails for R23, 995.

Customers can also trade in their older Samsung device and get up to R14, 000 back per device to buy the Galaxy S20 FE.

Ultimately, this is a device that acts almost like an ultra premium smartphone – notably the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G (now prized at R32, 995) – but without the bigger price tag.
