It’s been twenty years since Levi’s took every denim lover by storm and introduced Engineered Jeans. The innovative approach to denim was renowned for its twisted side seams and a darted yoke to create a more functional fit.
The idea was that, by taking a forward-thinking approach to design, both comfort and freedom of movement could be maximized. Following their massive success during its 1999 launch, Levi’s Engineered Jeans have remained something of a legend ever since due to both their effortless fit and progressive style.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of these iconic jeans, Engineered Jeans are back with a special edition re-issue for the 2019 season along with a modern twist.
“Engineered is the principle that is the foundation of both of these releases. We’re taking the concept of Levi’s Engineered Jeans and experimenting with 3D knitting to see what it could be like to make the jeans of the future,” says Jonathan Cheung, senior vice President for global design at Levi’s.
The 2019 edition features contemporary fits such as the 502 Tegular Taper for men and a fashion forward Loose Jean, and much-loved Reissue Trucker jacket for women. Inspired by the original garment details, the reissue will feature among other things a red two-horse back patch and inner pockets printed with the famed Engineered Jeans logo, along with its printed hanger loop.
