Avon celebrates 135 years with a burst of accomplishments – cheers to 11th Sunday Times GenNext win

Amid the challenges and burdens of coronavirus, 2021 proved to be a monumental year for Avon as the global beauty brand celebrates 135th anniversary with great grandeur, first with another Sunday Times Gen Next award win, followed by a $1.35m pledge to women's causes around the world, along with the launch of a special rewards programme to incentivise its sales force.

For 11 consecutive years, Avon has been voted the coolest make-up brand at the Sunday Times annual Gen Next Awards, with 2021 winners announced during a live-streamed online celebration on September 9.

The results of the survey, conducted by HDI Youth Marketeers, are particularly relevant to brands and advertisers as they reflect consumer preferences of the millennials.

“We are pleased to have been voted winners in the Image and Grooming category as the coolest make-up brand which is a testament of the quality, affordability, and love for our beauty products,” said Momin Hukamdad, executive director of marketing for Avon Justine.

She added: “This proves that even in our 135th year, we are still one of the best beauty brands in innovation, quality, relevance and performance.”

The award reaffirms the work Avon continues to do not only in bringing bring cutting edge beauty products to the market. It also demonstrates the company’s commitment in accelerating technology development during a pandemic, this as it unveils a number of enhancements to its relationship selling model. This includes new features for Avon On, the digital platform that enables representatives to sell online, as well as a new performance-based rewards programme to enhance women’s earning opportunities, and ensure that they reap the benefits of the growth of the beauty and cosmetics industry.

“This accolade galvanises us to work harder to become the beauty brand of choice for our customers. We wish to renew our commitment to developing amazing, cutting edge yet affordable products that will serve as industry benchmarks,” Hukamdad concluded.

Some of the benefits Avon consultants can look forward to include exclusive access to the Avon Justine skincare masterclasses led by the likes of makeup extraordinaire Precious Xaba.

As if this is not good enough, through its philanthropic arm, the Avon Foundation, Avon announced it will award $1.35m in grants for projects which deliver on the brand’s mission to create a better world for women.
