Floyd Mayweather headed to South Africa, Zimbabwe to honour local boxing legends

American boxing legend Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is headed to Mzansi to honour local boxing legends through a high fashion, eclectic music performance and bespoke banquet dinner aimed at raising funds for South African youths in boxing at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday, July 15. 

South Africa – Local boxing legends are gearing up for the grandest sports jamborees of the year; the ‘Floyd Money Mayweather Jr. Motherland Tour’ 2023 gala dinner at Miekels Hotel, Harare and the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg on July 13 and 15 (Friday and Saturday) respectively.

“Zimbabwe and Johannesburg, Me and The Money Team will be there next month July 13th-17th. I’m looking forward to being back in the Motherland,” Mayweather recently shared as he officially announced the tour to his 29 million plus Instagram followers, among them SA hip-hop megastar and boxing promoter Cassper Nyovest, who gave the announcement thumbs up with a like.

The Money Mayweather banquet dinner has garnered a reputation for being an oasis for luxury and elegant hospitality. It caters to those that appreciate the finer things in life just as it speaks to the unforgettable glamour and VIP treatment those who have had the privilege to experience can attest to.

Mayweather’s highly anticipated return to South Africa has been made possible by the eventing powerhouse FrontRow TMT, with the midas touch locally of entertainment publicist and event producer, Simphiwe Majola.

Mayweather and The Money Team will make their first stop in Harare at the Miekels Hotel’s Stewart Room on July 13, before gracing the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on the 15th.

Conceptualised, designed and immaculately styled, this important honorary evening is a celebration of sheer excellence at its finest, with several of SA’s boxing legends to be honoured. Not only will devoted boxing fans be met by a delightful meet and greet experience with their favourite boxing legend himself on the day. They will also get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage in a thought-provoking Q&A sessions with the five-weight world champion as he takes his commitment to inspiring the next generation of young people to the next level.

The charismatic leader of The Money Team will make his first stop in Harare, Zimbabwe July 13 and 14, before coming to Johannesburg, South Africa, Johannesburg on July 15 and 16.
